AWWWWW MAAAAAN, YAHOO’S SHUTTING DOWN MASH. That’s my most useful and favoritest social network!

Mash is shutting down

Mash is shutting down. What a bummer! It was such a differentiated and unique social networking service. And it was so young–not even out of private beta with limited “invite only” accounts! What is Yahoo thinking?!?!?

iYomu. What’s more original? Putting an ‘i’ before every word, or creating a social network for [X]?

Posted by Me on August 14th, 2007

iYomu - another social network for x…in this case, grown ups.

In the case of iYomu, which is an iSocial Network for iGrownups, the iAnswer is neither.

My guess is that not too many grown ups are using the site’s tools–iYLocate, iYCommunity (which lets you find people with similar interests), or iYDNA (which seems to be a sorta personality test).

Look out Facebook! Linked In, you’re dead!

Maybe I’m wrong, and this is going to be the next big thing. But I’d be willing to bet a bit of money that it ain’t.

Great Tickets at StubHub.com!

I’ve got a crappy one for ya–Texty “beta”

Texty - a pointless, web 2.0 super light distributed CMS

TechCrunch says “Texty is a dead simple but useful new internet service that you can use to quickly create and edit content on a web page with zero HTML or programming skills.”

I say that it’s a waste of time. What’s the point?

The way it works is that you write your snippets at texty and then get an embed URL to paste in other webpages. Where ever that embed code is placed, the text (or content) snippet will show up.

Here’s why it’s pointless. If someone has an HTML page, they can just write the content directly in the page a hell of a lot easier than going to texty and then pasting embed code. If they have a blog, they already have WYSIWYG editing. Ditto on social networks.

Goalmigo’s goal is to stay in business for more than a year

Posted by Me on July 20th, 2007

Goalmigo - track your goals online for no reason whatsoeverGoalmigo enables people to post their goals and progress online for everyone to see. Looking to see what people have posted so far showing things as insightful and unique as “lose weight” “be healthy” “find a job” and “post five things to the goalmigo blog”. Maybe this is a fun idea, but I honestly don’t see this site reaching the 5,000 goals mark. I just hope they didn’t spend too many hours or too much money developing this site.

CmyList.com - Craigslist Meets YouTube For No Reason Whatsoever!

Posted by Me on June 23rd, 2007

CmyList Screenshot

CmyList.com is yet another classifieds site. But wait! It aims to differentiate iself by using **videos**.So, instead of reading about, say an accounting job, you can instead watch a video about said job. Sigh. There is perhaps on area of Craig’s List where this functionality would be beneficial to the community. Yes, that. Ironically, that’s the one thing they don’t allow!Rating: ★★☆☆☆☆
