GotYourSpace ScreenshotJust what we need. Another social network/community that called ____space.com. I’m sure it’s going to be wildly successful. In this case, they claim to be differentiated by giving you “the freedom you’ve never had before with social networking.” I’m not sure what that means, but I wish them the best of luck.Rating: ★☆☆☆☆

Keyfiler is now Free!

Posted by Me on May 18th, 2007

Thanks to our last review of Keyfiler.com, they saw their faults and decided to make the service free for everyone. While this doesn’t change my mind about the service itself, I still respect their changes. It takes a smart startup to realize that they’re on the wrong track and attempt to fix it.

It’s been 2 days since the blog has been up and we’ve already helped one startup with finding their way towards a better business model. The owners of Keyfiler had to say this:

We made Keyfiler free.
Cause we could.
We built that thing like 3+ years ago. It uses tables. It’s done with like PHP4.

Truemors - Dumb Idea, Horrible Execution

Posted by Me on May 16th, 2007

Guy Kawasaki’s new startup, Truemors, is the most useless thing ever. It’s basically a digg clone that runs on some hacked up Wordpress. The key difference here is that on Truemors the users submit rumors and then the “community” votes it up or down in a manner similar to reddit’s.

First of all, the interface is horrible. It’s just a bunch of random stuff mixed together with a lack of organization, even though there are categories. Second of all, you get bored quick since if something is fake you’re not going to want to read it. But if the rumors are factual then they should be posted on a news site like digg. You can send in your rumors by email, phone, and text message which is pretty cool. Most of the stories are either spam or real news. Turns out rumors aren’t so fun to read about if there’s no proof.
