a.placebetween.us = Google Maps
Service May 17th, 2007a.placebetween.us promises to find a meeting place for you and your friends. Basically all it does is take 2 addresses you type in, and find the midpoint. It’s a simple script that most users with a Google API Key could write. In fact, anyone with access to Google Maps could do the same thing by hand.
I don’t know when anyone would use this. I mean, if you’re trying to find a place to meet at and you’ve never been there, you probably won’t wanna go there. But if you do know that place, why would you ask the website in the first place?
The layout is a white page with a Google Maps embedded on 70% of it, and Google Adsense ads on the rest. The domain is a ridiculously stupid attempt at copy del.icio.us and trying to become part of the Web 2.0 scene. Either the owner is trying to milk the web 2.0 trend or was just experimenting and decided to make it public- which in either case doesn’t help us (the web) out at all.
